Her friend, soul singer Tyler James, gave her demo tape to an A & R person and she was discovered. as a singer at this young age. Amy was born in the Southgate area of Enfield London. She was born to a Jewish family in which their were Jazz Musicians. Her father is a taxi driver and her mother is a pharmacist. When she was around 10 years old she organized a rap group which was short lived. It was called Sweet -n-Sour and she was “Sour”.At 12 years of age she was expelled from school for not applying herself and for piercing her own nose. She listened to a wide range of music such as English Soul, Jazz, R&B, and more.

Amy Winehouse won a Britt Award for Best British Female Artist on February 14, 2007. Her song “Rehab” can be found online and you can listen to it online. The Music Video is said to be ‘hot’ and if you are interested in that song, you will not want to miss the video. Below are a few of the lyrics of the song.

Rehab;
They tried to make me go to rehab
I said no, no, no.
Yes I been black, but when I come back
You won’t know, know, know.

I ain’t got the time,
and if my daddy thinks I’m fine,
He’s tried to make me go to rehab
I won’t go, go, go.

The song sounds like someone who is asking for help but maybe is afraid to give up and admit that they have a problem. The friends and family seem to see the problem but she refuses to seek the help she needs.

People often write songs about their lives, experiences and how they really feel. It is their way to let others know it without really admitting it. They may be screaming for help but others sometimes do not know how to go bout helping them because the individual has to first want to get help and admit that they actually have a problem. Young people can sometimes become stars virtually overnight and the pressures are to much so they try to hide their problems in a bottle or by doing drugs because they do not know how to handle grown up situations and need feel that they need some extra help so they resort to alcohol or drugs.
