Ephedra Diet Pill

The ephedra diet pill is fast becoming a thing of the past. At least in the United States it is because ephedra was banned in the United States in 2003 and again in 2006. There were too many reports of serious health issues caused by products which contained ephedra. There were over 800 reports of serious health problems such as heart attacks and strokes as well as some deaths reported to the Food and Drug Administration from 1994 to 2003. Some products containing ephedra replaced ephedra with other ingredients at this time. There were some who felt that the FDA was over reacting about ephedra and that it was not as dangerous as the FDA wanted people to believe it was so they got a petition together and filed it with the court in 2004. In 2005 the court decided that the FDA did not have enough evidence to prove that ephedra was dangerous if used in small doses as small as 10 mg or less. The ban on ephedra was lifted in 2005. The FDA received over 1,000 reports of hospital emergencies and at least 17 deaths from 1997 to 2006 from people using products with as little as 8 mg of ephedra per dose. People were still suffering from heart attacks, strokes, and even death. The FDA decided to have some of the products which contained ephedra tested to find out the amount of ephedra in each dose. The results of the tests showed some products contained more ephedra and some contained less ephedra than was stated on the labels of the products. There were some products that contained no ephedra at all but it was listed on the label of the bottles. The FDA reported their findings and reports to the court and in 2006 ephedra was banned for the second time in the United States.

There have been many people who have been compensated for their suffering because of a product which contained ephedra. Others have filed or are filing lawsuits for compensation. If you have suffered a serious injury from using a product which contained ephedra or have lost a family member, you may be entitled to compensation too. You should contact a good lawyer in your area that handles cases of this type. Many lawyers will not charge for an initial consultation. There is a statute of limitations for this kind of lawsuit so you should do it as soon as possible.

Ephedra has been used by the Chinese, Native Americans, Mexicans, and Mormons for many years for medicinal purposes. It has been used for years for lung congestion, bronchial tube congestion, sinus congestion, cough, common colds, fever, to stop sweating associated with illnesses, and other medicinal reasons. It has been used in the modern day as an energy booster, weight loss product, and a sports performance booster.
