Anorexia Intervieue

You can find an anorexia intervieue, stories, testimonials, pictures, and a lot of information about anorexia and other eating disorders online. There are many websites with information about anorexia and it is important for everyone to know the signs and symptoms of eating disorders so they can help those who are close to them before it is too late. There are more and more people being diagnosed with anorexia every day and the disease needs to be addressed as soon as possible so treatment can begin so the victim can recover from the problem. There has not been a lot of scientific studies done on anorexia and other eating disorders until the past 30 years because before that it just was not recognized much or diagnosed, although it did exist. Anorexia has been recognized since 1684 but was not classed as a disease and actually diagnosed until 1870. Society has always been a problem as far as people believing they needed to be thin in order to succeed in life. The need to be thin is so great in some that they will do whatever they have to in order to become thin. They think the faster, the better and in the process they end up harming their body. Some will exercise excessively, not eat right, and hide their signs of a problem as long as they can. They will skip meals or eat very little and eat food that contains no calories or fats. The victims will wear baggy or layers of clothing to hide the fact that they are thin. They see themselves as fat every time they look in a mirror and they weight themselves often. They are in denial and will not admit they have a problem until vital organs become damaged. In some cases some of the damage can not be repaired..

There are over 8 million people who have been diagnosed with anorexia and other eating disorders. About 7 million are females and the other 1 million are male. Some people are surprised at the statistics on males who have eating disorders. Another report states that one in every six people who have anorexia are male. It makes sense because men and boys have stress and low self esteem just as women and girls do. Young boys often want to play sports and belong on a team and in order to do that they feel that they have to lose a lot of weight so they do excessive exercise and diet in order to lose weight fast. People feel the need to lose weight and be skinny because of what they see in society. There are, however, some senior citizens who become anorexia because of certain events in their lives such as the loss of a loved one or just a lack of appetite and often die from it. It is reported that more seniors die from anorexia than any other age group.
